The Olympian
Organizers from O Bee Credit Union had a dinner and reception Thursday at the Rutledge Corn Maze in Tumwater to kick off the fall season of the Amazing Money Maze, an effort to promote and raise money for financial education.
The credit union, The Olympian and the state Department of Financial Institutions are offering the maze to teach basic financial facts to children and adults.
As participants work their way through one of two mazes, they try to answer questions at different checkpoints about savings, budgeting, investing, debt, credit, identity theft, retirement, college, insurance, credit score, checking/debit and housing. Each checkpoint has a question each for adults, teens and children.
The Rutledge Corn Maze is off Exit 99 at 302 93rd Ave. S.E. in Tumwater and continues through Oct. 31. Hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is $7 for people 12 years and older; $6 for military, seniors and people ages 5 to 11; and admission is free for people 4 years of age and younger. (Tony Overman/The Olympian)
