The Lewis County Public Health Department has reported that a Chehalis woman is Lewis County's first confirmed H1N1-related death, according to The Chronicle of Centralia.
Laboratory results confirmed Tuesday that the woman, who was in her early 30s, died of complications related to an H1N1 influenza infection more than two weeks ago.
She had sought treatment for pneumonia the week before her death and was taking antibiotics. She was at home the day of her death and began feeling worse, according to the Health Department. She collapsed and was rushed to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, where she was pronounced dead of unexplained cardiopulmonary arrest.
There have been no other known H1N1-related deaths in Lewis County, according to Lewis County Public Health officials. There have been as many as three in Thurston County; the most recent victim was a 29-year-old man.
