Lacey - For the first time all season, the River Ridge Hawks were playing with a lead at halftime and for the majority of the second half.
TUMWATER - If the Tumwater Thunderbirds needed a game that would build their confidence early in the season, they got it against the River Ridge Hawks on Friday night.

LACEY – As crosstown rivalries go – this one has been a little one-sided.
It’s football first and foremost at River Ridge. In past seasons, many athletes on the football team focused on other sports.
YELM – The giant killers came close to slaying yet another titan Saturday, but in the end, River Ridge missed out on the Class 2A state tournament’s final four.
River Ridge girls basketball coach Curtis Norwood, who led the Hawks to the Class 2A state championship in 2008 and a state tournament appearance in March, resigned Tuesday.
Coming into this week’s Class 2A Southwest District IV baseball tournament, few people gave the River Ridge Hawks a chance to accomplish what they did last season – win the district title.
