I'm interested in hearing from readers -- whether it's a weird bird flying around their backyard to the big fish that broke them off over the weekend to skiing down a favorite run. callen@theolympian.com.

05/03/2006 – I've just discovered that actress Jane Seymour, who starred in "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" on television is this year's honorary chairperson of the National Fishing and Boating Week.

Never mind that I've never heard of National Fishing and Boating Week, which is June 3 to 11 this year. This is the sixth year, so I've been asleep at the switch.

Or maybe Jane Seymour has the star power -- or surprise factor -- to get my attention.

Or maybe it was the press release from the Recreational Boating & Fishing Foundation.

Or maybe it was the photo of Seymour dressed in angling togs -- along with her husband, actor James Keach, at the event's website, which is www.takemefishing.org.

Seymour does look smashing, and it looks like she's spending some time with Keach on a Montana river.

Evidently Keach taught Seymour how to fish -- the marriage survived that test, which is probably as tough as any ordeal that a Hollywood relationship faces.

Seymour plans to arrange interviews with "national media outlets" to share her fishing experiences and talk about how fishing is good for families.

Well, I'm going to try to interview Seymour. I think it's my duty to you, my readers. Besides, she may have access to some sweet private water!

Stay tuned!
