Hot Raymond tops Navigators

February 1, 2007

LACEY - The Northwest Christian girls team couldn't cool off Raymond's hot shooting hand in a 47-43 loss Wednesday.

Raymond made 21 of 36 shots from the field - 58.3 percent.

"Raymond shot the ball very well, but in the second half, we played really good defense and got back in the game," Northwest Christian coach Ron Collins said. "We just had a couple too many turnovers to win the game."

Lindsey Wagner had 11 points and 12 rebounds, her 11th double-double this season for the Navigators. Kathleen Post led Northwest Christian (8-8, 3-8 Pacific 2B League) with 15 points.

After making just 1 of 12 shots in the first quarter Tuesday, Capital found its shooting range, making 22 of 37 shots in the second half.

"We weren't very patient in the first quarter," Capital coach Colleen Wells said. "We were just hurrying."

Jena Russell's 12 points led Capital, which improved to 12-3 overall and 7-1 in the Class 3A Western Cascade Conference.
