Host an international student

Saint Martin's University is seeking families to take part in the International Host Family Program this summer. Host families will share their homes and introduce international students to U.S. culture and family life. The application deadline is Thursday.

Awards earned by students, school staff

North Thurston staff members and students were honored for their contributions to the schools by the district's Multicultural Advisory Council.

Sarah Applegate, River Ridge High School librarian, was awarded the Dick Williams Award, for her work with bringing multicultural authors to "Lacey Loves to Read." Julian Fajardo, who was in eighth grade at Komachin Middle School, was awarded the Bonnie Evans Award for his work with the Migrant Youth Program. Certificates of achievement were given to Dennis Crisp, Stephanie Pearce and Anne Marie Vu Quoc, the ESL teachers and paraeducator at North Thurston High School; and to students Nelsey Bravo of Komachin, Grace Lacanlale of North Thurston High School and Joy Lehnis of Timberline High School.
