Smith to head WA Obama campaign

August 30, 2007

The Barack Obama campaign announced today that U.S. Rep. Adam Smith, a Tacoma Democrat who represents Lacey and eastern Thurston County, will serve as Washington state chair for the Illinois senator’s campaign for the presidency in 2008. Smith will also advise on policy issues including foreign policy and economic policy, says Obama’s operation.

“We need a change from the divisive politics of the past few years. Barack Obama is the right man for the job,” said Smith in a release on the announcement. “He will bring people together for real change on issues such as Iraq, health care and energy policy.”
