• Published September 20, 2007

Other sports at Capital: None

About last week: As the Cougars' No. 1 singles player, Blackner compiled a 4-0 record and remains undefeated on the season. Last week, Blackner won 6-0, 6-1 over Yelm's Jeremy Steves, 6-1, 6-4 over Olympia's Cameron Williams, 6-0, 6-0 over Tumwater's Ryan Bert and 6-1, 6-1 over Nick Athia of Lakes.

Comment on last week: "I think it was pretty good. Didn't play to full potential, but I played pretty solid. I think I can definitely do better."

Comment from coach Joe Monroe: "I'm glad he's being honored. Drew is helpful on the court with other players. He's really dedicated to tennis."

What's an interesting fact about yourself: "I like to warm up in flip-flops. It helps my footwork."

If you could meet a professional athlete, who would it be?: "Roger Federer. He is the mastermind. The dude is amazing."

Favorite class at Capital: "Spanish III. I love my teacher. He's really awesome."

What's your choice for college: "Wherever I can play. UW has looked at me, University of Utah and some schools in South Carolina. I'm definitely learning towards UW and University of Utah because I know they have strong teams."

What's the best part about playing tennis?: "When you're on the court, there's nothing else. School doesn't matter, nothing at home matters. On the court, tennis is just tennis."
