Agencies tweak Hudgins

Nothing bugs me more as a legislature than having state agencies pointing fingers at one another over something that isnt being done, said Rep. Zack Hudgins just now.

The Tukwila Democrats case in point was federally required blood testing for lead contamination. The Department of Health said it doesnt do the testing for children on Medicaid because its not their area, and the Department of Social and Health Services said they follow Healths standard, and dont test unless asked.

It really tweaked me out as a legislator. These agencies, theyre not doing what theyre supposed to be doing, Hudgins aid.

His bill, HB 3059, passed unanimously. It requires DSHS to perform the testing on Medicaid-eligible children.
