Sometimes a funny little story is perfect for the blog. But then television picks it up and the next thing you know, the governor's humorous anecdote goes from throw-away post to major wacky, wacky news.

Such is the case of Gov. Chris Gregoire’s stoy about being refused service at Hannah’s for lack of identification. First reference I saw was at the TNT's Political Buzz, a very short take apparently during the guv’s boat tour.

But then King 5, Seattle’s NBC affiliate picked it up, and apparently Q13, the Fox affiliate became interested, and so did the Seattle P-I, and on and on to The Associated Press.

Never one not to follow the pack, I got in on the action, too. Talked to bar owner Todd Ruzicka, who explained (again) how the bouncer was told not to let people in without ID, but hadn’t been told about the policy applying to those looking 35 or younger.

This, it turns out, isn’t Ruzicka’s first encounter with Gregoire – he’s bounced one of her guards for young looks – and not his first run-in with a governor.

"That one guy, the governor before Locke?" Ruzicka said.

Governor Lowry? I suggest.

"Lowry. We cut him off a couple times. He took it quite well."
