Results: anti-war Delavar vs. pro-surge Baird

• Published August 19, 2008

OK, the results are pouring in, and there have been some problems getting to the Legislative totals at the Secretary of State’s Website. However, the trend shows anti-war Republican Michael Delavar has got the No. 2 spot against U.S. Rep. Brian Baird.

"I am encouraged and honored and humbled that my message has reverberated with voters. They took a chance on me," said Delavar, an airline pilot. "I cannot wait to start a general election. When we can simplify the race, I think the differences will be clear."

Quite a race, as Delavar is a Ron Paul type who appears to be edging out traditional Republican Christine Webb, and anti-war Democrat Cheryl Crist.

In Sen. Dan Swecker’s race, it looks like a rematch with Democrat Chuck Bojarski.

Republicans Ted Shannon and Neal Kirby didn't make the cut, but Kirby appears to be winning more votes than Shannon, despite a significant fundraising gap.
