Where the whacking is (That's you, DSHS)

I cannot possibly communicate all the fascinating tidbits found in the budget proposal today, but a few items have jumped out:

TVW's funding is cut by 20 percent. That must mean gavel-to-four-fifths-of-gavel coverage of the Legislature.

The fees charged by the Labor Relations Office to negotiate those contracts that aren’t being funded are being suspended.

CTED is hammered in the coming two-year budget. A drop of 28 FTEs, and budget reduction of 8 percent. (Health Care Authority loses 18 positions.)

But the big cuts, as expected, come to DSHS.

An FTE reduction of 736 from a maintenance level of 19,068. That’s more layoffs than CTED has workers.

Read the summaries and budget yourself here.
