Reader Salutes for July 23

THE OLYMPIAN

The VFW Ladies Auxiliary 318 extends thanks to the young students at Evergreen Christian and Lacey Elementary. Lots of little hands fashioned Father’s Day cards for the gentlemen of Puget Sound, Roo Lan, Evergreen and Olympia Manor care centers. Coordinating these activities were Julie Weber and Debbie LeFever. All of the recipients enjoyed the cute cards.

What a great idea to share a ‘table for all’ in downtown Olympia to celebrate Olympia’s 150th birthday! Thanks to Mathias Eichler and all others who worked to make this happen. It was a great way to bring folks together in a multi-generational event, share food and conversation, listen to music, and put a ‘face with a name’ as City Council candidates circulated through the crowd. We dined on white cloth-covered tables adorned with lovely bouquets. I hope the event will be repeated, if not for another Olympia birthday, for another worthwhile cause of celebration.
