An Olympia man is dead, and another faces vehicular-homicide and vehicular-assault charges, after a rollover accident in Olympia early Sunday, the Washington State Patrol reported.

Alcohol and speed were factors in the crash, Washington state Trooper Guy Gill said.

Silas B. Tuner, 18, of Olympia died after a 1974 Chevrolet Blazer driven by Emil R. Swartling, 18, lost control on Mountain Air Drive, struck a retaining wall and rolled about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Gill said.

Turner had been sitting in the front passenger seat and was pronounced dead at the scene, Gill said. The passenger behind Turner, Terrence Flanagan, 18, of Lacey was seriously injured and was hospitalized, Gill said. A third occupant was not injured, he said.

Swartling was wearing a seat belt and was not injured, Gill said. Swartling was booked into the Thurston County Jail.
