Quincy Pondexter’s first weekend of replacing Jon Brockman as Washington’s team leader brought an award-winning performance.

Pondexter, a 6-foot-6 senior, was named the Pacific-10 Conference men’s basketball player of the week for his efforts in the Huskies’ three-game sweep of their opening tournament.

Pondexter was co-MVP of the Athletes In Action Classic with teammate Isaiah Thomas. Pondexter averaged 22 points and 11 rebounds in Washington’s victories over Wright State, Belmont and Portland State.
