Boy suffers burns to face at restaurant
JEREMY PAWLOSKI; The OlympianLACEY – Paramedics with the Lacey Fire Department took a 7-year-old boy to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital in Tacoma on Sunday night after he suffered burns to his face and head while dining at the Fuji Japanese Steakhouse on Martin Way, according to the Lacey fire chief. Lacey Fire Chief Jim Broman said paramedics were dispatched to the restaurant in the 7900 block of Martin Way at 6:05 p.m. Sunday and treated the boy at the scene. He was then taken by ambulance to the hospital, he said. Broman said it was his understanding that the boy’s burns were serious. A witness who notified The Olympian after the incident said the fire occurred in a dining area, injuring the child, a second boy who was not taken to the hospital, and a chef who was preparing food at a table. A chef at Fuji Japanese Steakhouse declined to comment on the record Tuesday. A chef’s left hand was wrapped in a white bandage during a reporter’s visit to the restaurant.
