The Chehalis Police Department received seven reports of items being stolen from vehicles Thursday and Friday, capping weeks of reports of broken windows and stolen possessions in that city and Centralia.
Centralia Police Sgt. Ruben Ramirez also is seeing the trend there. He said investigators sometimes can connect repeat offenders to the crimes based on when the person was released from jail, but he said such a lead has not developed yet.
“Usually, we’ll find out who it is,” Ramirez said. “You end up catching someone, they go to jail and the (number of) vehicle prowls goes down.”
