A's land Kouzmanoff in trade with Padres

The Padres and Athletics have finalized a four-player trade that sends third baseman Kevin Kouzmanoff from San Diego to Oakland.

The A’s acquired Kouzmanoff and minor league infielder Eric Sogard on Saturday for outfielders Scott Hairston and Aaron Cunningham, the latter a product of South Kitsap High School.

Short hops

Right-handed reliever Nick Masset and the Cincinnati Reds agreed to a $2.58 million, two-year contract, avoiding salary arbitration. Masset went 5-1 with a 2.37 ERA in a team-high 74 appearances last season. … The Chicago White Sox have avoided salary arbitration with two of their top players, agreeing to a one-year, $7.5 million contract with closer Bobby Jenks and a one year, $3.2 million deal with outfielder Carlos Quentin.
