  Last May, the Capitol City Marathon hosted the 30th annual running of the local marathon. It was a day of achievement for all involved. Over the last year, the marathon group has seen some changes: A new director and a new outreach effort that garnered new volunteers, and many new ideas on how to share information on the race and encourage healthful lifestyles here in Olympia and elsewhere.

  The annual YWCA Women of Achievement Awards are presented to women who have made significant contributions in social justice, stewardship, leadership and community service. The YWCA of Olympia will honor six women as 2011 Women of Achievement Honorees at 5:30 p.m. today at Indian Summer Country Club. This year’s honorees are:

  Eagle Urban Renewal Agency asks city to reconsider terminating board

  The Eagle Urban Renewal Agency has asked the city council not to terminate the agency’s board and replace them with the mayor, the four city council members and two appointees.

  The city is considering the change to give it more oversight of the 6-year-old agency.

  The city council is slated to consider a draft ordinance during tonight’s hearing, which begins at 6:30 p.m. at Eagle City Hall, 660 E. Civic Lane.
