Lewis County Democrats have informally endorsed Denny Heck in the 3rd Congressional District race, the first such vote by a county party in the district representing southwest Washington.

Heck, an Olympia entrepreneur and former Vancouver legislator, calls himself a jobs creator and is one of five Democrats seeking retiring U.S. Rep. Brian Baird’s seat.

The vote was Wednesday among 52 party officers and precinct committee officers. Heck polled 48.4 percent of those voting, followed by state Sen. Craig Pridemore of Vancouver with 12.9 percent, state Rep. Deb Wallace of Vancouver with 3.2 percent and no votes for peace candidate Cheryl Crist of Olympia or Maria Rodriguez-Salazar of Clark County, party Chairman Bob Schroeter said in an e-mail.
