Brian Windrope has been hired as executive director of the Washington Trails Association.

Windrope, who will begin work April 12, will take over from Elizabeth Lunney, who is stepping down after more than 10 years with the group.

For the last three years, the 41-year-old Windrope was director of philanthropy for the San Juan Preservation Trust. He has been living in Friday Harbor.
