SEATTLE – A Port Townsend farmer apparently had a secret life as a bank robber. Michael Fenter, owner of Compass Rose Farm, has pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Tacoma to four counts of bank robbery and weapons charges.
The charges stem from holdups in Seattle, Tacoma, San Francisco and Sacramento, Calif.
The arrest of Fenter shocked neighbors who knew him as a gentleman farmer and handyman.
But federal agents say he was also a crafty robber responsible for four West Coast bank holdups.
His wife of 20 years and their three children knew nothing of Fenter's illegal pastime.
