The win comes after Wednesday’s 10-0 loss to Puyallup.
Foss got on the board early, scoring in each of the first two innings to take a 4-0 lead over the Bears. Olympia put up three runs in the third, pushed across one each in the fifth and sixth innings, and capped off the game with a five-run seventh.
Joel Johnson led the Bears (1-2) by going 3-for-4 at the plate. Cole Loncar, Brad Williams and Jake Hacker each had two RBI.
Yelm 10, Tumwater 9: Despite only two hits all game, Yelm scored six first-inning runs on its way to a second straight nonleague victory.
Tumwater took a 7-6 lead after the third inning, putting up all seven runs in the third. The Tornados (2-1) scored two runs in the fifth and Tumwater scored two in the bottom of the seventh.
Capital 13, Lakes 3: Capital made up for four errors on defense by pushing across 13 runs on offense.
The Cougars pounded out 10 runs in the first inning and had 13 hits in the game.
Jason Monda, the winning pitcher; Kellen Camus; and Jourdan Weiks all had two hits apiece and at least two RBI.
Black Hills 8, Steilacoom 2: The Wolves put up four runs in the fourth and two more in the seventh to take a nonleague victory over the Sentinels.
Ryan Smith went the distance to pick up the win, allowing just two runs on four hits.
Boys soccer
Yelm 6, Clover Park 0: Offense was no problem in the Tornados’ shutout victory over the Warriors.
Four Yelm players – Miguel Gonzalez, Daniel Gonzalez, Alejandro Cisneros and Juan Cisneros – found the back of the net. The Gonzalez brothers scored two goals apiece.
Jacob Smith got the shutout in goal.
Fastpitch
Capital 2, Lakes 1: In a classic pitchers’ duel, it was senior Faith Shipman who got the winning RBI against the Lancers.
The teams put up zeros on the scoreboard until the sixth inning, when Lakes and Capital each scored once.
Capital pitcher Rachel Dosland threw a four-hitter and struck out 12 batters in the victory.
Shipman had two of the Cougars’ seven hits.
River Ridge 6, Tenino 5: The Hawks squeaked out another one-run victory, despite allowing four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Aleah Cox struck out eight Beavers in the victory.
Kaylee Manley and Halee Hernandez had two hits apiece for the Hawks, and Dani Wall, Cassie Vance and Lindsey Elder had two hits each for Tenino.
