A 30-year-old Shelton man was arrested Saturday afternoon and booked into the Lewis County Jail on charges of felony hit-and-run and second-degree assault after causing a crash that injured another driver, according to the Washington State Patrol.

According to the patrol:

Matthew J. Slames was driving a 2008 Subaru Impreza south on Interstate 5, a mile south of Chehalis. He made an abrupt lane change in front of the 2008 Yamaha driven by Nicholas Bartley, 41, of Ethel, then braked hard, causing Bartley to rear-end him.

Bartley suffered lacerations to his arms, fingers and knees and was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital. His motorcycle sustained $4,000 in damage; Slames’ vehicle sustained $1,000 in damage.
