The workshops are designed to prepare participants for a Green Enterprise Conference scheduled June 7 at the Regional Education Training Center in Elma.
“We’re trying to grow the pipeline of green businesses in our region,” said Lisa Smith, executive director of Enterprise for Equity, an Olympia nonprofit group that offers training in support for startup businesses.
About one third of the 150 startup businesses launched by Enterprise for Equity since 1999 have business plans that reflect green products and services, Smith said.
The workshops and conference are fueled by a $30,000 U.S. Department of Labor grant and supported by regional economic development councils and chambers of commerce.
The workshops are scheduled in Olympia, Aberdeen, Union, Mossyrock and Chehalis and are designed to offer business owners, farmers and entrepreneurs tips on financing, technical assistance and technology. The Olympia meeting is from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., May 6, at the Washington Public Utility District Association office, 210 Union Ave. S.E., Olympia.
