Baby's death to be investigated

THE OLYMPIANMay 29, 2010

A 4-month-old girl whose father said he dropped her while throwing her into the air and trying to catch her has died, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.

Chief Criminal Deputy James Chamberlain said Friday that he thought the girl died Thursday night. The King County medical examiner will determine cause and manner of the baby’s death, he said. The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating and considers the death suspicious, Chamberlain said.

No one besides the child’s father was in the home in the 3200 block of 26th Avenue Southeast at the time he said he dropped her, according to the sheriff’s office.

Chamberlain did not have additional details Friday.
