Charges pending Tacoma against woman hurt in Kitsap County crash

June 6, 2010

A 38-year-old Tacoma woman suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol was injured in a crash early Saturday morning in Kitsap County, according to the Washington State Patrol.

According to the State Patrol:

The woman was driving a 1988 Mercury Cougar south on state Route 3 about four miles south of Poulsbo at high speed. She lost control of the vehicle, which slid into a ditch, then re-entered the highway, where it crashed into a 2010 Toyota Tacoma pickup.

The woman was transported to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton with head injuries and possible broken ribs. The Toyota’s driver, a 23-year-old man from Longview, Texas, was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt; it was unknown whether the woman was wearing one.

Excessive speed and DUI are believed to be the causes of the crash, and charges are pending against the woman.
