Co-workers of the 61-year-old mother went to her Eton Lane home at about 11:30 a.m. when she uncharacteristically didn't show up for work, according to the police report. They heard a man inside yelling for help and called 911.
Deputies arrived, heard yelling and were about to break in when the 67-year-old father walked out the front door. Deputies went in, found the son in a barricaded bedroom standing over his mother and 7-year-old daughter, and detained him, the report said.
The mother said she woke up at 6:30 a.m. to get ready for work, opened her bedroom door and the son was there. He has a history of mental problems and has always lived with his parents, the report said. He ordered her to get back in the room. She tried to get past him and he shoved her back and pushed her onto her bed. His father woke up and tried to help and the son shoved and pushed him to the ground. The mother tried to call 911, but the son took her cell phone, according to the report.
The son kept making veiled threats that he'd kill them and himself. The father eventually escaped to a window and yelled for help.
The man was arrested on suspicion of unlawful imprisonment, fourth-degree assault and harassment. He was taken to the Kitsap County jail with bail set at $500,000.
