According to the report, the man was driving a 1989 Chevrolet K1500 southbound on the highway around 3:21 a.m. when he pulled on the steering wheel while reaching for an object in the car. The vehicle left the roadway, struck a dirt bank and guardrail, traveled over the guardrail and flew down into a ravine. The car rolled multiple times before landing on its rear end, facing straight up.
The driver was transported to Mason General Hospital in Shelton with shoulder injuries. He was wearing a seat belt and neither drugs or alcohol were believed involved. The Patrol said inattention was the cause of the crash that totaled the car.
