Former KVI radio employee ordered to pay restitution for rigging contest

SEATTLE A former employee of KVI-AM radio has been ordered to pay $14,000 in restitution for rigging a call-in contest that awarded $1,000 to listeners.

As part of a plea agreement, Ryan Elizabeth Keeley avoided jail time when she was sentenced Friday in King County Superior Court for second-degree theft.

She was accused of helping friends and their associates win money by picking their names for a radio contest in early 2007. Contestants were supposed to be randomly selected from one of two lists.

Charging papers show Keeley received some of the proceeds for helping others win.

Charges were dismissed against 14 others who police say helped Keeley with the scheme.
