Rolls-Royce, the engine maker, said the failure of the Trent 1000 engine is being studied. It said it expects the issue wont delay the engine program.
Jon Ostrower, FlightGlobals Flightblogger, reported that the failure seems unlikely to affect Boeings test schedule for the aircraft.
Rolls-Royce is developing an improved Trent 1000 to be installed on later production aircraft.
General Electric is also producing an engine for the twin jet.
