DUI suspected in high-speed crash that injured Olympia man Saturday

The State Patrol said a 20-year-old Olympia man was injured in a suspected DUI crash at the 10600 block of Littlerock Road S.W. in Olympia Saturday morning.

According to the report, shorter after 5:30 a.m. the man was driving a 1991 Acura Integra southbound when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The car left the roadway at a high-rate of speed and smashed into a power pole.

The vehicle was severely damaged and fire personnel had to cut the most of the driver's side apart to remove the man.

Troopers at the accident scene developed probable cause that the man had been driving under the influence and a blood test was administered.

The Patrol said the accident could have been far more serious or even fatal if the driver had not been wearing a seatbelt.
