What’s in season at Olympia Farmers Market? On Sunday, one answer is the Blackberry Bushes. Saturday - Day out with art
The city of Olympia’s Waterfront Public Art Tours offer an opportunity to get to know more about the outdoor art downtown. And they’re free. Saturday begins the season’s last month of tours, which are at 11 a.m. at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Water Street, by the mural of the big wave. See and be seen tonight at First Friday, when shops and galleries stay open later than usual to facilitate browsing. Thursday - Traditional music at Traditions Cafe
Traditions Cafe & World Folk Art is kicking off its concert season with a show by culture-spanning multi-instrumentalist Bruce Molsky. Molsky plays fiddle, banjo and guitar and has been exploring traditional music from a range of cultures for 20 years. “This one will definitely sell out,” the folks at Traditions write on their website. Saturday-Monday: In a rut?
End your summer with a wild weekend during the Get Out of the Rut celebration at Northwest Trek Wildlife Park, 11610 Trek Drive, Eatonville. Master violinist Paul Anastasio joins guitarist Vince Brown for Jazz in the Cellar from 9 to 11 p.m. Saturday at Swing Wine Bar & Cafe, 825 Columbia St. S.W., Olympia. Saturday - 'Antz' go marching
Imagine a film about a Woody Allen-esque fellow trying to survive in a totalitarian society — and win the heart of a princess (played by Sharon Stone). “Antz” is a story with all-ages appeal. “It’s sharp and funny ... one of those hybrids that works on different levels for different ages,” Roger Ebert wrote of the 1998 film. It has a star-packed cast — from Allen and Stone to Dan Aykroyd, Albert Brooks and Jane Curtin. It’s part of Olympia Film Society’s monthly series of films for kids and families.
