Lewis County Sheriff's Office seeks 8 fugitives wanted on outstanding warrants

THE CHRONICLE, CENTRALIA, WASH.September 3, 2010 

From law enforcement to the prosecutor's office to the judicial desk, warrants are requested and granted regularly. They include both misdemeanors and felonies, violent crimes and simple failures to appear in court.

Lewis County has close to 3,000 outstanding felony warrants. That doesn't include the thousands of municipal warrants issued through municipal courts. The sheriff's office has provided information on the eight individuals published in today's issue. The feature will continue next month with a new selection of highlighted warrants.

Editor's note: This list of the people most wanted by Lewis County law enforcement was compiled by the Lewis County Sheriff's Office in consultation with other police agencies. Anyone with information on these suspects is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Lewis County at 1-800-748-6422.

Colbert Alberto Salmeron

Age: 24

Last known local address: 1800 block of Juneman Street, Centralia

Crime: Salmeron was charged in August 2006 with four counts of first-degree assault in connection with a drive-by shooting in the 500 block of North Tower Avenue in Centralia. According to court documents, Salmeron drove past the victims several times in a late-model red Ford Mustang before firing several shots at them. Investigators later discovered that Salmeron lives in Texas and was only visiting for a month. Salmeron had a return airline ticket just days after he was scheduled to appear in Lewis County Superior Court. Salmeron spent two months in the Lewis County Jail in 2004 after he pleaded guilty to being one of three people to threaten a man with a gun at the intersection of South Tower Avenue and Locust Street in Centralia.

Juan "Grover" Valentino Vasquez

Age: 24

Last known local address: 1500 block of Delaware Avenue, Centralia

Crime: Vasquez is suspected of being involved in a drive-by shooting at about midnight on Aug. 7 in the 400 block of Southwest William Avenue in Chehalis. According to court documents, a group of four people in a red Chevrolet Blazer were allegedly "going on a mission" for the Yakima-based gang Little Valley Lokotes. One shot was fired from the car at a group of people standing in a front yard. Two of the four people - Christina Palomares, 24, and Ruben Alberto Palomares, 25, a husband and wife from Tenino - were arrested in connection with the incident.

Andrew Esteban

Morales-Loberg

Age: 19

Last known local address: 100 block of Southwest 11th Street, Chehalis

Crime: Morales-Loberg is suspected of being the gunman in a drive-by shooting at about midnight on Aug. 7 in the 400 block of Southwest William Avenue in Chehalis. Michael Yeager

Age: 39

Last known local address: 200 block of California Street, Pe Ell

Crime: Yeager is charged with six counts of third-degree child molestation and voyeurism after he allegedly molested his ex-girlfriend's daughter beginning in 2005 in Grants Pass, Ore., and continuing in Pe Ell in 2006. According to court documents, the female victim lived with Yeager in Pe Ell for a brief time in 2006 to finish the school year.

Estel Calvin Baker

Age: 49

Last known local address: 2400 block of North Pearl Street, Centralia

Crime: Baker is being sought in connection with a December drug sting served by Centralia police in the 2300 block of North Pearl Street. According to court documents, Baker is charged with manufacture of a controlled substance, marijuana, and meth possession.

Sandra Montez Ramirez

Age: 30

Last known local address: 1200 block of Alder Street, Centralia

Crime: Ramirez is being sought for allegedly throwing a rock through a window of a vehicle in the 900 block of North Pearl Street in response to a drug deal gone bad. According to court documents, Ramirez is charged with second-degree malicious mischief and has prior convictions of possession of stolen property and possession of a controlled substance, along with 10 misdemeanor convictions.

Jorge Uriell Gonzales Torres

Age: 27

Last known local address: 300 block of Newaukum Valley Road, Chehalis

Crime: Torres is charged with three counts of first-degree child molestation after he allegedly molested a female neighbor who was 8 years old at the time. According to court documents, Torres has no previous criminal history.

Coty Shatka Hammond

Age: 19

Last known local address: 200 block of Mountainview Lane, Ethel

Crime: Hammond is charged with second-degree theft after alleged bank fraud in August 2009. According to court documents, Hammond allegedly opened an account with $25 at TwinStar Credit Union and subsequently made an electronic deposit of $4,000 with an empty envelope at one of the bank's ATMs in Onalaska. Hammond is suspected of withdrawing $500 from the account and then using the same trick a week later with lesser amounts. The loss suffered by TwinStar is estimated at $975.
