The incident happened about 8:10 p.m. in the 4200 block of 72nd Street East, the Sheriff’s Department reported Thursday. A man, 20, ran from a driveway into the roadway and was hit by an SUV going east on 72nd. The driver did not stop.
The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were not considered life-threatening, deputies reported. The vehicle that struck him was described as a small, possibly silver SUV that might have front-end damage.
Investigators suspect the driver might not have known the man was hit because he was wearing dark clothing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Department at 253-798-4721.
