Takeout: Plenty of Thanksgiving options

November 17, 2010

Not everyone has the time or inclination to spend days preparing a huge Thanksgiving feast.

It’s still possible, however, to enjoy a traditional holiday dinner at home, with leftovers, by getting a feast to go at the local market.

Numerous grocery stores and caterers sell fully cooked turkey, prime rib or ham dinners and all the trimmings for one price. All the customer has to do is pick up the meal, heat it up, and dig in.

Here’s a sample of South Sound grocers and a caterer who offer holiday meals to go. If we’ve missed a grocer or caterer who wants to be included, send an e-mail with the pertinent information to debby.abe@thenewstribune.com and we’ll post it online at www.thenewstribune.com/soundlife/food

In the list below, quantities are specified when available. Prices don’t include tax. Most of the meals are refrigerated, so customers should allow time to heat the dishes at home; turkeys can take up to three hours to thoroughly warm.
