Republicans will shut government down

The midterm elections were like a horror movie — “Poltergeist,” to be exact.

Remember little Carol Ann who is snatched by evil ghosts that keep her close, whispering lies, pretending to be her friend?

Here’s the deal. Republicans are only interested in appeasing their corporate sponsors and getting control of the White House, and if you think these people are your friends, I don’t want to meet your enemies.

This ugly election polluted our airwaves with negative ads paid for by shady corporate interests full of lies about tax increases, Medicare cuts and an evil socialist agenda.

The reality is, your taxes were lowered, Medicare is not being cut, wasteful spending is; and in turn this is lowering the deficit.

Republicans railed against the Democrats about jobs creation all the while voting (three times) against extending the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Emergency Fund. This successful job subsidy program was helping folks on TANF get work as part of the stimulus package.

The Republican leadership has made it very clear that their top priority is repealing health care reform, and to get around a presidential veto, they will try to tie up appropriations bills that fund health care programs, causing a government shut down.

Remember 1995? It can happen again and most likely, it will.

What about job creation? What about stabilizing the economy? Isn’t that what they were elected to do?

It’s a horror movie alright, but instead of a Hollywood production, it’s real, and taking place in our sacred nation’s capitol.
