Put pressure on the Israeli government

I watched the recent elections closely, from coast to coast, for news about how the next Congress would face the sticky issue of settlement building by the Israeli government occupying the West Bank.

I was not surprised to see that none of the candidates mentioned the issue at all. It is not on our political radar, and this is why it takes something like 9/11, or Black September, or suicide bombers, to bring the topic up.

However, we the American consumer, with our mighty dollar and voting power, can help save lives on both sides of the conflict by refusing to assist the occupying forces keep apartheid policies alive.

Boycott, divest, and speak out against the government of Israel and any products from Israel until the national government of Israel agrees to stop expanding housing into the occupied lands of the West Bank. Once they stop the aggression, the peace talks can resume, and a final two-state solution may take shape.

Our government provides far much too much taxpayer money to Israel each and every year without exception. Not one tea bag candidate mentioned that. To be fair, no other candidate mentioned that either.

It is up to the taxpayer to make the change. If you and I want peace in the Middle East, we must hold Israel accountable for the 40 years of occupation.

Israel cannot be both the occupier and the victim. They must participate in a solution.
