January is the perfect time to warm your toes by the fireplace, curl under a blanket and read all those books you received as gifts or checked out at the Timberland Regional Library.
To heighten the literary fun factor, consider entering Timberlands 14th annual Adult Winter Reading program.
The librarys region-wide program offers adult readers a chance to win hotel stays or book bags filled with treats and books. Individual libraries will offer even more prizes. The program starts Monday and runs through March 15 throughout the five-county library system.
For every five books read during the program, readers complete a form and turn it in at their Timberland library to be entered into a weekly drawing. Books can be audio, online or print versions. Thousands of readers participate in the winter program each year, library spokesman Jeff Kleingartner said. This is an opportunity for adults to read together and have a chance to win prizes for what they love to do, he said. We are much more than children or teen programs. We have something for everybody.
Winter Reading Program participants must be 18 or older and have a current Timberland library card.
Program prizes are donated by businesses and Friends of the Library groups. Overnight stays are being provided by the Phoenix Inn & Suites in Olympia, Shelburne Inn in Seaview, Ocean Crest Resort in Moclips, Lake Quinault Lodge in the Olympic National Forest, and Lochaerie Resort on Lake Quinaults north shore.
Brochures with contest rules are available at libraries. To learn about more Timberland library events, go to www.trl.org
