Perfect night of bowling

For Alan Rex, perfection came at an unexpected time.

The past month of bowling had been a struggle – “a slump, you could say” – for the 55-year-old Union resident.

But while competing in his weekly league Feb. 1 at Tumwater Lanes, Rex rolled his first 300 game in 37 years of bowling. Rex doesn’t practice, and bowls in a league once per week.

“It sure was a great night,” Rex said. “It was an awesome feeling. I’m averaging more today than I have in my life.”

His previous career-best game was a 298 that came in March 2002.

Hole-in-one: Terry Bullock shot his first hole-in-one in 50 years of golfing when he aced the 17th hole at the Tumwater Valley Golf Course. Bullock used a driver to ace the 141-yard hole Jan. 31.
