Snow report for February 18

Crystal Mountain has packed its weekend full of activities.

The ski area will host avalanche awareness classes Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Greenwater Community Center.

The classes are designed to teach skiers, snowboarders, climbers and other backcountry users how to analyze snow conditions and make safe decisions when traveling in winter conditions.

Saturday night at 7, the ski area will show two free movies in the chapel: “The Blizzards of Ahhhs” and “Last of the Ski Bums.”

If you like beer, Crystal is the place to be this weekend.

The Alaskan Brewing Co. will unveil a new beer at a party this afternoon at 3.

The event will include a movie, which has not yet been announced, and a chance to win a heli skiing trip to Alaska.

On Saturday night at 6:30, the ski area’s summit house will host the $79 per person beer dinner that will features selections from the Elysian and New Belgium breweries.

 • The Summit at Snoqualmie will have live music tonight at the Timberwolf Bar and Grill and Saturday night at Whiskey Pete’s.

Both events are free for those 21 and older.

Summit Central will be the site of a freestyle camp Saturday and Sunday.

Participants must have a terrain park pass and at least intermediate snowboarding skills.

The course costs $125 per person and does not include equipment rental or lift tickets.

 • The weather forecast calls for snow in the mountains Friday and clear skies Saturday. Snow is expected to return Sunday and Monday.
