Weekend getaway: Crystal Mountain Schlittentag

What: Crystal Mountain's annual dummy downhill is no more. This year, the dummies will be replaced with you. In a dummy downhill, competitors make an unmanned contraption to sled down the hill. Winners are judged on speed, craftsmanship and style, but mostly style.

Rules: Teams consist of three people – two pushers and one pilot – and at least one must remain in the contraption all the way to the finish line. The course includes a jump. Prefabricated sleds, engines, batteries and external energy sources are prohibited as is launching people from the device or throwing items. Fireworks, smoke and the use of power tools on site are not allowed. Team members must be 13 or older and the pilot must be 18 or older.

Prizes: Winners get a trip to the Red Bull Soapbox Race in Los Angeles. The second-place team gets a skydiving trip with the Red Bull Air Force. Third place is VIP treatment at a Sounders game. The best crash gets a $75 gift card.
