Seminar set for April 20 on stormwater ponds

Lacey residents who have a stormwater pond in their neighborhood are invited to attend a free workshop next week to talk about the ins and outs of pond maintenance and responsibility.

The workshop, scheduled from 6:30-8 p.m. April 20, is designed for residents who live in a neighborhood with a stormwater facility, such as a wet pond, dry pond or swale.

Workshop topics will include responsibility for maintenance, warning signs for a facility in need of maintenance, regulations for maintenance and free programs to make maintenance easier.

On any rainy day, the rain that falls on streets, parking lots, rooftops and impervious surfaces in downtown Bellingham flows into nearby Squalicum and Whatcom creeks and into Bellingham Bay.
