Organizers of the Capital City Pride festival and parade have announced that R&B recording artist and Broadway star Shoshana Bean, an Olympia native, will be the headlining entertainment at the 20th anniversary celebration.

Festival chairman Tony Sermonti says that this year’s stage show is professionally produced and will feature national entertainers. Other entertainers include singer and dancer Xavier Toscano from San Francisco and Jade Jericho. Sunday’s entertainment will be a cabaret in the park performed by Olympia's own "Saul Tannenbaum and his friends of Dorothy." The lineup also will feature a concert by Pacific Northwest musical theatre actors.

The group also announced the 2011 grand marshal will be Jim Fouratt. Fouratt is an author and a survivor of the 1969 Stonewall Riots in New York City, where he lives. He has appeared on Comedy Central's "The Colbert Report."

Fouratt will present two lectures in the Olympia area prior to the Pride festival and will attend the Pride kickoff event on Friday, June 10.

The pride festival will include a beer garden, food and vendor booths, and a kids area from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Saturday, June 11, and Sunday, June 12. The parade takes place at noon Sunday, starting from the state capitol and heading north through downtown Olympia to the festival grounds in Sylvester Park.
