Name: Walter Curtis

_

City: Olympia

Volunteer’s activities: Curtis has volunteered with the AARP Tax Aide program for 14 years, and is responsible for coordinating and instructing tax preparation trainees. He frequently attends courses to learn complicated tax codes to keep the program current.

This volunteer is special because: Frank Williams from the AARP Tax Aide program is grateful for all the effort Walter puts in. “He has to go to extra classes and keep up with all the changes in the tax code and handle the training sessions for everyone so that they can be certified to prepared taxes.”

Volunteering is important to this volunteer because: “I have always made volunteering a part of ‘what I do,’” he said.

Curtis will receive a plaque from the Volunteer Center and KGY Radio, courtesy of Deer Creek Awards, a division of Color Graphics.

Volunteer Kelly Marie Lux wrote this article. The Volunteer Center provides volunteer services to people of all ages. If you would like to nominate a volunteer, call 360-741-2622, or download a nomination form at www.volunteer.ws.
