Highlights of the 2011 festival, which has the theme Candyland, include a carnival and food booths, the queen coronation at 7 p.m. July 14, the Grand Parade at 5 p.m. July 16 and fireworks at dusk July 17.
Here are the Lakefair princesses, one of whom will be crowned queen.
Brandi Eadie, Timberline High School
She is the daughter of Jennifer and Robert Lindsay. She is the captain of the competitive cheerleading team and is active in the DECA club. She attends South Puget Sound Community College as well as high school and will attain her Associate of Arts degree along with her high school diploma. She plans to attend a four-year school and medical school to earn her degree specializing in pediatric medicine.
Marissa Kelly, Tumwater High School
She is the daughter of Andrew and Jennifer Kelly and David and Loretta Wilson. She plays soccer and basketball and is active in the music department. She is a member of the National Honor Society and has maintained a 4.0 grade-point average. She is studying Spanish, and her goal is to become bilingual. She plans to attend college, earn a masters degree in education and become a teacher.
Michaela Kier, Northwest Christian High School
She is the daughter of Michael and Kathryn Kier. She is the captain of the school volleyball team, a member of the National Honor Society and a volunteer at the Olympia Union Gospel Mission. Her long-term goal is to combine her love of volunteering, sailing and travel by joining Mercy Ships for several months to serve the needy in Africa. She plans to attend college and major in education.
Crizel Pineda, North Thurston High School
She is the daughter of Andrew and Levita Pineda. She emigrated from the Philippines, leaving some family members behind to be reunited six years later. She is active in her church and volunteers for FCCLA. She plans to attend the Art Institute of Seattle after graduation.
Karen So, Black Hills High School
She is the daughter of Hyo-Jin and Janet So. She is active in the music program at her school, playing saxophone, piano and flute. She also enjoys cooking, playing tennis and spending time with her friends. She plans to attend college with a major in education and a minor in music.
Amanda Williams, Capital High School
She is the daughter of Butch and Sue Williams. She plays tennis and is a member of the National Honor Society and LINK crew. She plans to attend the University of Washington and earn a degree in criminology. She plans to then attend law school and become an FBI executive.
