Flash mob denied

On July 30, a Saturday, about 100 young people planned a “flash mob” event at Westfield Capital Mall.

Dance studio owners, parents, instructors helped organize it. At exactly 6 p.m. all dancers would stop and do a short dance wherever they were in the mall — while shoppers could enjoy the energy and talent they have.

This is an event that is becoming a great and exciting event around the nation. It’s sudden, entertaining, and puts smiles on faces — a wonderful thing for young people to be involved in.

On that day, when the mall discovered they were about to dance, the security officers advised them if they did it, they would be arrested for loitering.

Yes, loitering.

They were all so disappointed, and the families that came to watch were shocked at the mall’s attitude.

Thanks to Target, they went over there and did their dance.

I think the mall needs to reconsider their attitude about community support. I will remember this next time I have a shopping trip planned.
