Thurston County business events for the week of Aug. 22.

Tuesday: State Employment Security department releases July unemployment data for Thurston and Pierce counties. In June, Thurston County had a jobless rate of 8.5 percent and Pierce County's was 10 percent. Satewide unemployment was 9.3 percent in July.

Wednesday: A job fair is set for 1 to 4 p.m. at the Ramada Hotel in Olympia. The event is sponsored by Verizon Wireless and there will be 12 companies in attendance.

The following are some of the companies that plan to attend: Verizon Wireless, Aflac, Waddell & Reed, Highline School District, Country Financial, ACS/Xerox, the F.B.I., Victoria's Secret, Saint Martin's University.
