The assistant professional from Manitou Golf Club shot a 2-under-par 70 in the final round Wednesday at Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla to finish at 10-under 206 – good for a five-stroke victory over defending champion Brian Thornton (70) and Cle Elum amateur Dan Whitaker (72).
Puyallup’s Derek Barron shot a 66 to place fifth alone at 213.
Prugh made a 15-foot putt for birdie on the fourth hole. Meanwhile, Whitaker, who had trimmed his deficit to two shots, fell back with bogeys at Nos. 12, 17 and 18.
“I just wanted to approach (the final round) the same way. This course can bite you if you don’t play it right,” Prugh said. “Today was about not making mistakes, and I accomplished that.”
Prugh, who also won the Rosauers Open in late July, is set to enter the first stage of PGA Tour Qualifying School at San Juan Oaks Golf Club in California starting Oct. 25.
