Thurston County law enforcement agencies will participate in DUI emphasis patrols starting today through Sept 5.

The DUI emphasis patrols are part of Target Zero, the Washington Traffic Safety Commission’s initiative that seeks to reduce traffic fatalities and serious injuries to zero by the year 2030.

Washington State Patrol, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office, and Olympia, Tumwater, Lacey and Tenino police, as well the Nisqually Tribal Police Department, will participate in the patrols, according to Target Zero Manager Brittany Sill.

The emphasis patrols will begin after a 9 a.m. ceremony at the State Capitol Campus Law Enforcement Memorial, according to a news release.
